Donshades is a multi award winning hands-on film Editor, Director, Photographer and Artist with a solid 15 years of commercial experience behind him.Β A senior level off-line editor; Don has cut TVCs, branded content, social media content, mood films, feature documentaries, interactive digital cross-over films, music videos and performance films. Since 2018, Don has led live events VT editing teams, working under immense time pressure for clients including Diago, Porsche, Twitch and Pokemon.
As a director Don specialises in non-scripted documentary alongside aesthetic-led dance films, music promos and conceptual moving image works. As an artist, Donβs practice works with super 8mm and 16mm film, interrogating received notions of identity, memory and time. Don's unique approach and style draws creative inspiration and technical know-how from his complementary backgrounds in photography, theatre, creative advertising and high end digital post-production. His comprehensive set of skills are driven by a craft approach to making with a think first, then act mentality.Β
Based between London, Scotland and Yorkshire, Donβs work has taken him from Canary Wharf to field work in Northern Peru - in every environment his emphasis is on a real human connection to the stories he is telling and finding a common ground with his subjects. From here the story-telling beings.
